DRUM SONG: THE RHYTHM OF LIFE
DRUM SONG: THE RHYTHM OF LIFE tells a widely relevant, socio-political story from an Indigenous perspective. The global impact of the story feeds into the current and worldwide surge of politically conscious Indigenous peoples demanding human rights, food sovereignty, and self-determination. The documentary explores climate crisis impacts through the eyes of Alaska’s Indigenous peoples as they utilize their ancestral knowledge and modern science to survive, adapt, and thrive as they have done for thousands of years.
The documentary film was co-created with Indigenous Alaskans and Arctic Scientists in Alaska with support from the International Arctic Research Center (IARC), Eskimo Walrus Commission (EWC), and Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). It premiered at the UNFCCC's COP 28 in Dubai at the ICCI's Cryosphere Pavilion.
It explores ways to decolonise and indigenise creative technologies and methodologies to preserve indigenous knowledge and empower native peoples, utilizing digital storytelling to help bridge the divide between Western and Indigenous worldviews to support mutual “knowing”.
DRUM SONG was invited to present a private screening at ICCI UNFCCC COP 28 on Dec 6, 2023 in Dubai.
Blue Aeris is continuing work with Drum Song Films as consulting producer and currently guiding film festival submission and distribution efforts.
